Lighthouse Hill | 2003

[this poem was inspired by Edward Hopper's "Lighthouse Hill"]

Serenity is a quiet autumn morning:

A lighthouse overlooks the vast ocean;
an empty house stands in the morning breeze.
Clouds only pale wisps against the cobal sky,
a gentle wind pushes them out of existence.
The grass, browned by Indian Summer,
whispers like an anxious child.
Waves break on the rocky shore,
lapping at the cliff,
reaching for the resting sand.
